Its similar to starting at the beginning of the year- in that you should treat it as if you are opening your classroom for the first day of school. Teach routines and procedures and be consistent! Consistency is key. You will probably get kids that make remarks about "Ms. So-and-So didn’t do it that way…" or "We usually…" depending on what situation you are stepping in to. The best thing for you to do is establish your own rules and procedures and the kids will follow along. Don’t let them run the show just because they may have had it differently the first half of the year. Good luck!!
